 Hi,

 I used the --with-python option to configure in order to specify a more
 recent python version in
 another location. Compilation of the swig python-API failed with this
 because it could not
 find its python header files. Looking at the autogenerated Makefile, I
 found that PYTHONROOT was
 not defined but used to generate the CFLAGS for the python binding. My
 problem was resolved after
 setting PYTHONROOT. This is also the workaround but it should be fixed in
 the autoconf stuff
 eventually.
