Comment:

 This has now been fixed with two caveats:
 - It only works with the 3.5+ versions of the eclipse-rcp runtime
 - It only works with 64 Intel Macs. Here you are bitten by Mac OS X being
 proprietary and
   Apple not providing Java 6 kits for either PPC or 32-bit Intel.
