New description:

 Hi,

I had a bit of trouble getting the python-API to test properly. I have my
 ctype in non standard
location and thus python did not find it. I fixed the issue by setting an
 appropriate PYTHONPATH.
But it has to be discussed if the python-API build should check for ctype
 (and possibly numpy)
availability if it relies on it.
