 Here is the regexp to use to validate the content of {{{target}}}
 attributes in a NeXus data file:
  {{{[A-Za-z_][\w_]*([ :][A-Za-z_][\w_]*)*}}}

 But what about the rules for the NXDL files?  Not the same.
