 Pete,

 While in principle I think "reference_time" is nicer and more obvious than
 "start", "start" is what NXlog uses and keeping things common is good
 practice. Makes it easier for programmes that want to read this. I would
 suspect there will be resistance against changing the NXlog that is
 already out there. What do you think?
