[Nexus-developers] HDF5 on Windows

I am having some trouble getting the HDF libraries to work on my Win 2000
system at present, so can only make a general comment. The missing macros
would only be required to make a standard FORTRAN program work - they are
not required for C programs on Windows. Uwe, did you also test the FORTRAN
interface?

It should be possible to get a FORTRAN program to work without them, but
you need to tell it to use "C style calling convention" rather than
"stdcall"; however that may cause other problems if you link your fortran
to other libraries.

I shall persevere with HDF and report later ...

Regards,

Freddie

As you know, there was a flurry of activity in preparation for releasing
version 2.0 a few weeks ago. However, it stalled because there was some
doubt about whether the current version worked on Windows. Part of the
problem was that Freddie Akeroyd noticed that some Windows-specific macros
were no longer in the header files. However, Uwe Filges says that he has
tested it on Windows NT (using Microsoft Developer Studio) without problem.

Please could those of you with Windows machines please give us an update on
this. I would like to get version 2.0 out the door soon. Please reply to
the list.

Thanks,
Ray
