[Nexus-developers] Value of target attribute

Does anybody know why the value of the target attribute is so unusual in
hdf5?

For example, in a file created with 
<entry>
 <instrument>
  <bank1>
   <data/>
  </bank1>
 </instrument>
 <bank1>
  <NAPIlink target="/entry/instrument/bank1/data"/>
 </bank1>
</entry>

The value of target of either "data" item is "/bank1/bank1/bank1/data".
I've seen this in similar links as well in files produced with
v3.0.0->current HEAD.
