I agree with your design of the NexusBox !!
We are using almost the same , event if I must say that our development 
is not ready to be shared !!

  A common data format is a collective effort. I think that for now NeXus has still not reach 
  the critical threshold, but it has real strenghts. Please don't give up now unless you have good reasons. 
  I think the people who developped Nexus has already done a good job. 
  What is currently missing is a large diffusion of the format to benefit from
