Branton,

There are some instructions on compiling HDF4 under cygwin at:
http://www.sat.uni-bremen.de/arts/wiki/ArtsCygwin
However you should be able to compile NeXus with just mxml and HDF5. If
you get a problem with the 3.0 source release, try the CVS development
source from http://nexus.isis.rl.ac.uk/kits/ as I think there was a
hidden unnecessary dependency on HDF4 in the original kit that has since
been removed.

Regards,

Freddie

Subject: [Nexus] hdf4 and cygwin

Dear Nexus users,

Is anyone out there using Nexus under cygwin? I have no problem
installing the szip, mxml, and hdf5 libraries. But I am having no luck
with the HDF4 libraries, which according to the official HDF site aren't
supported for the cygwin platform. I am only using the HDF5 function
calls -- do we really need HDF4 libraries in order to install/use Nexus?

Best wishes,
Branton
