[Nexus] Basic questions about application definitions

Andy:

I have been working with the canSAS and NeXus to develop a consistent 
way to represent reduced multi-dimensional or single-dimensional 
small-angle scattering data.  This NXcanSAS effort has the attention of 
the IUCr Commission on Small-Angle Scattering, as well.

After some years, a draft NXcanSAS application definition has been 
produced from which NeXus HDF5 data files can be produced.  As a draft 
standard, it is in the contributed definitions for now.  ISIS has used 
the pre-NeXus version of the canSAS standard for some of the files from 
its low-Q instrument.  With the HDF5 version, I anticipate stronger 
uptake but that, too, will come with the same cautious adoption rate. 
First adopter of NXcanSAS will be the APS USAXS instrument later this 
week, unless someone else has taken that role.

There are two contributed definitions related to the SNS.  I suspect 
they have been using them for a couple of years.

Seems a good idea for NeXus to collect "I use it" notices for the 
various application definitions.
