I'd say, the version that is shipped with major Linux distributions is<br>
an important criterion for what should be supported at least.<br>
<br>
openSUSE 13.1 (which is still officially supported and is selected to<br>
be the next Evergreen aka LTS version) ships with 2.8.11.<br>
