[NeXus-committee] XML Schema for NeXus definitions

At the 2007 Berlin NIAC meeting it was agreed that NeXus definitions
should be moved from Meta-DTD format into XML schema. Using XML schema
allows more rigorous validations to be performed on all NeXus format
files and, for NeXus XML files in particular, would make reading by
non-NeXus API programs easier.

Over the last few months work has been progressing on creating the
framework for using XML schema and on beginning the process of
converting existing meta-DTD definitions. While this work is still very
much in progress, a Wiki page has been created at
http://www.nexusformat.org/Schema to explain the overall approach being
taken and to invite any comments from interested parties. It is hoped
the majority of the migration work can be completed in time for the
upcoming NIAC and NOBUGS meetings.
