All NeXus class types adopted by the NIAC must begin with NX.
Classes not adopted by the NIAC must not start with NX.

Doesn't this address the validity of NXgroup?


Wasn't this rule (about use of NX in a class name) adopted to avert the 
kind of confusion encountered by Joachim?

FWIW: The current definition of NXsnsevent.nxdl.xml does not contain 
NXgroup.  Rather, it specifies DASlogs:NXcollection.
