 On the topic of replacing the {{{nx:definition}}} element with
 {{{nx:base_class}}} and {{{nx:application}}}, there is a question on SO
 that covers how to implement this.  This should be possible.

 Note:  it is not necessary to create a definition for contributed
 definitions.  Those NXDL files are used to describe either a new
 application definition or a new base class.
