The SDK you use determines which version of libc, etc. gets linked.
10.3 and 10.4 do not have the 10.5 libs available.
I imagine that libhdf5.a references to system calls, libjpeg, libz
and whatever else will be delayed until the final link step, but we
will have to try it to be sure. It is a bit risky --- the header
files might change between 10.3 and 10.5 so that e.g., fopen refers
to _old_open_hack in 10.3, but to _new_open_hack in 10.5, but tests
should resolve this.
I wonder if we should put tests into the postflight script?

On 10.4, the default 2.5 distribution from python.org puts the site-
packages directory at:
/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.5/lib/python2.5/
site-packages
You can still put the install at /Library/Python/2.5/site-packages,
and we can create a postflight script like:
SITEPKG=/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.5/lib/
python2.5/site-packages
test -d $SITEPKG && echo /Library/Python/2.5/site-packages >
$SITEPKG/nxs.pth
So long as we document what we are doing in ReadMe.txt then we will
be fine.

I will continue work on the script install builder then so that it
will be a simple ssh command to build the mac distribution.
