[NeXus-tech] NeXus teleconference

Dear Mark,

Thank you for the rapid response.

   1. I am delighted if we are moving to non-prefixed versions of class
and field names.
The prefixes were necessary to allow us to have a coherent discussion
without
confusing what had already been agreed as being in NeXus base classes,
versus what
was now being proposed, and to also to clearly mark cases of varying names.
   2. The omissions of fields from various class instances was
deliberate, because
this was intended the be the minimal subset of tags needed for preliminary
data reduction and analysis for an application definition, rather than
for base classes.
   3. CBF carries information both about beamline components and the
radiation
incident on the sample. The move on the NeXus side to beam rather than
carrying
the informaton in the various beamline physical components and their
settings was
from an earlier discussion objecting to use of terms that are primarily
for neutron
use in X-ray beamlines. I would be happy with any division between
beam and
various components that make people comfortable with the naming.
   4. Should axes be groups or fields? To use a nice NX_AXIS, we
should do them
as groups.

I have to walk the dogs. More during the telco.

    Regards,
     Herbert
