===============================
NeXus Telco Week 46 Summary
===============================

Non Standard Fields
=======================

This is about Eugens proposal. Some argument started about this.
As NIAC we have always argued that data can be freely added to NeXus files
without breaking compatability. Eugens proposal runs against this. Eugen
then clarified that his proposal addresses data which is never meant to
be exchanged. But may be necessary to debug the beamline. There was
aggreement that the proposal should make clear that interesting data should
preferentially be added to NeXus base classes. To be continued.

Axes Type for Fields and NXgoniometer
=======================================

This is still pending. What is stopping us here is the question how we
can validate that a field has certain attributes: like an axes has vector,
transformation_type, depends_on attributes and such. As NXgoniometer is
basically a collection of axes, this question also holds back NXgoniometer.

Variants and ESD
===================

Many people at the Telco liked Pete Jemians idea about specifying the
names of error fields in an attribute. Concerning variants a mix of the
different proposals was preferred. Tobias will provide an example
file with an implementation for us to look at and discuss again.

State of MX Application Definition
====================================

The MX application definition is conceptually aggreed upon but some
serious typing needs to be done. ETA: befor next telco.

Multi Module Detectors
=========================

Tobias correctly pointed out that we voted on detector modules
in 11/2012. See:

http://lists.nexusformat.org/pipermail/nexus-committee/2012/000365.html

As long as NXdetector_element is sufficient it will not be touched.

Polarisation
===============

Still seeking an expert on X-ray polarisation.

Ubuntu and NAPI
==================

Tobias informed us that NAPI is broken in the last two Ubuntu releases.
NAPI in these releases does not contain HDF5 which makes it near useless.
Tobias has taken action that this is remedied for the upcoming 14.04
LTS release.
