I don't have a problem with it. But given that there is zero activity in the existing mailing list, why not use them?
I might not subscribe to a NeXpy specific mailing list but would not mind a few posts on it. He gets the profile of his project raised a bit and we benefit from not looking like a dead project.

Or does he have tons of traffic elsewhere he wants to move?

Ray Osborn has asked me if it would be possible to have a mailing list on nexusformat.org for NeXpy  – I’m happy to create it, I just wanted to check that everybody else was OK with the idea too
