This exists already.

Either use multiple NXdata groups, each having one and only one dataset 
with attribute signal=1 --or-- use a single NXdata group with one and 
only one dataset with attribute signal=1.  Use signal=n (2, 3, ...) for 
the others.

As discussed last week, n is a NX_POSINT.
