Hi Folks,
I would like to put NXxas on the agenda again if time permits:
MR: https://github.com/nexusformat/definitions/pull/1613
Current HTML rendering:
https://nxxas-hdf5-nexus-7ba1891a1aaa2d29580131298dc337bab2b3e5de32b6ef.gitlab-pages.esrf.fr/classes/applications/NXxas_new.html
XAS comes in different flavors: transmission, partial fluorescence,
total fluorescence, total electron yield etc.
Each of these modes define essentially what the "intensity" field
represents. In addition each mode can have metadata associated to it
which is specific for that mode. Although some modes might share some
metadata, not sure yet.
In a previous NIAC the suggestion was to use the "choices" mechanism for
this use case:
https://github.com/nexusformat/definitions/pull/1352#issuecomment-3422349124
I would like to get the opinion of the NIAC whether this is the right
way to go.
As you can see in the HTML rendering we re-used FAIRmat's NXtransmission
but there seems to be a conceptual problem since it is an application
definition, not a base class:

Anyway, food for discussion.
Cheers,
Wout
