Ray, do you mean update the "$Id" field in CVS? This could be updated
to 2.0, but would rapidly become 2.1, 2.2 as mods were made. As you
cannot go back numbers, we would then have version 2.1 of nexus with
files saying 2.6 for example, which is similar to having files saying
1.33 for NeXus version 2.0 However, if the changes to the library are
significant enough to make it desirable having 2.* version
number, it is not hard to do. What is everybody's view? Only people
who would look closely at the code would see these numbers anyway,
so is it more useful having the number directly related to the number
of code changes?
Regards,
Freddie

Please could everyone on this list check that the latest CVS version of
NeXus is ready for release. It should only take about ten minutes to update
your CVS files, run the Makefile (or install whatever DLL's you need), and
run the test programs. If you still have some spare time, please check the
README files to see that they make sense.
I would appreciate it if people could send me (or preferably this list)
confirmations of what systems/compilers they have tested it on so that we
can add it to the README files. Also, should we now update all the CVS
version numbers to a 2.0 number to reflect the number change of the NeXus
library? If there is a global way to do that, then perhaps Freddie could do
so.
I know everyone is extremely busy, but I would really like to get this out
the door before the end of the week. We are already several months behind
when I first said we would release it, and many people want to see the HDF5
version in action.
Thanks,
Ray
