NeXus Teleconference Week 14 2014
===============================

NXpoise
=========

NXpoise is a new group which has been suggested. It is a
generalisation of NXgoniometer. As NXGoniometer, it is supposed to 
hold the axes needed to position the component and the depends_on
field. NXpoise can occurr anywhere where it is required to be able to 
determine the position and orientation of a component precisely.
NXpoise is required for the PX application definition to work. The
consensus is that we use NXpoise for the time being and ratify it at 
the next NIAC meeting. There was a little discussion about NXpose 
versus NXpoise. Until the native speakers decided that NXpose is
actually a common  typo of NXpoise.


NIAC Meeting
=========

No news from Japan

Publication on NeXus
================

A new publication on NeXus should be written as reference.
Those two journals are considered.

* Journal of Instruments and Methods
* Review of scientific instruments

It was aggreed that Mark should make a draft whenever he comes down to it.



Axis Type
========

This has been postponed because the XML experts were not at the Telco.


Variants and ESD
=============

ESD

People liked Pete Jemians ideas to state the name of the error fields in an attribute to  the field. This 
is in already in use. To be ratified at the next NIAC.


Variants
---------

It was aggreed to treat variants in a similar way as we treat
errors. Thus the actual field with the NeXus name will always hold the
best value. And in an attribute the names of any variants for the
field. Example:

distance
    @variant=distance_from_reading
distance_from_reading
    @variant=distance_as_guessed_by_cleaner
distance_as_guessed_by_cleaner

To be ratified at NIAC.


NXpinhole and NXslit need voting
=======================

Tobias will prepare for voting on this.

NeXus Interfaces
==============

People take a look at what I have suggested.

Polarisation
==========

We are still seeking an expert on X-ray polarisation in order 
to update the polarisation NeXus fields. The current ones are very 
neutron centric. X-rays have other conventions. 

Tobias looks for one in the catacombs of Diamond.
