[NeXus-tech] [NeXus-committee] NeXus paper V7

What I liked about the debatable was the admission that NeXus standardises what people care about at the time. That may not turn out to be the best option in retrospect. Some decisions may even have to be reversed later.
But all you can do is make the best decision at the time. Hindsight isn’t readily available in bottles.

Just two comments while browsing the text (cannot rebuild it here at the moment anyway):

· The bottom of Fig. 1 appears to be cut off.

· How the text is organised in sections seems a bit arbitrary. There are two levels of subheadings in section III and none elsewhere. Section “NeXus Governance” could just move to the end of the Introduction, with “Backward Compatibility” moving just before that.

Regards,

Tobias

Pete,

we have crossed each other. I just have edited the additions made by Joachim and others a little. Most
of my changes just improve wording a little.

But I removed the debatable from our decision on NXmonitors. I find the use of the word debatable
in a publication debatable.

I also removed the section on field ranks. If we adopt the interfaces proposal on the next NIAC,
we will be far more specific about ranks even in base classes. So, I opt for rather saying nothing
rather then something which may already be wrong by the time of publication.

Regards,

   Mark
