Scientific Software Developers - Research fellows with IT focus
expected full-time or part-time employment for 5 years

NOMAD HUB is seeking several highly qualified and motivated colleagues 
to join the dynamic _NOMAD_ team (_https://nomad-lab.eu/career__)_ 
towards shaping the future of materials science.

The _NOMAD - Novel Materials Discovery Laboratory _is the biggest data 
store in computational materials science, worldwide. We are currently 
advancing its data infrastructure towards materials synthesis, 
experimental physics, theory, and data processing workflows. The new 
digital infrastructure and cloud services, based on leading edge IT 
technologies supports Open Data and Open Science towards data-centric 
materials science involving Artificial Intelligence.

Job description:

  	* Scientific services for research in the project NOMAD HUB (NOMAD 
Data Center at HU Berlin)
  	* Contribute along the full software development lifecycle from 
requirement analysis, specification, to implementation, testing, 
versioning, deployment, release and change management, as well as user 
support
  	* Be responsible for development tasks independent as well as in a 
team
  	* Be always available for helping project members in an agile 
environment
  	* Shorter and possibly longer stays at partner institutions
  	* Represent the project at (intern)national workshops, conferences and 
in scientific publications

Requirements

  	* Completed academic degree (master or similar) in physics, materials 
or computer science, or other relevant field
  	* ln-depth domain-specific knowledge of materials science (synthesis, 
experiment, or theory)
  	* Expert knowledge in object-oriented python programming, data 
modeling, and workflows
  	* Experience with Linux, Docker, Kubernetes and related virtualisation 
technologies, as well as git, Cl/CD, GUI and UX development tools and 
technologies; experience with Database applications (ideally with 
MongoDB and Elasticsearch), Task-Queues (e.g. Celery, RabbitMQ)
  	* Knowledge of Javascript, HTML, CSS and REST API development (e.g. 
Python Flask and Fastapi) and experience in web-based frontend 
development (e.g. React and Material­UI)
  	* Experience with data visualization and scientific workflows
  	* Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  	* Being a team player

flexible working hours. The majority of the team will be based at HU 
Berlin, but may spend time in partner groups all over Germany. The 
positions are for 5 years with a perspective towards prolongation.
