>From what I recall from NIAC 2014 in chicago was that we discussed the NAPI. We discarded the idea a NAPI light but rather decided 
to change the build system that a hdf5 version of NAPI is built by default. My feeling of the group atmosphere was also 
that interest in NAPI has renewed as people learned the hard way that it is much simpler to use then pure HDF-5
